Labels & Barcodes on Fawran — the Complete Map

Labels · Foundations

Fawran uses a small, fixed set of labels and barcodes to identify your goods at every level — from a whole shipment down to one physical piece. This page maps all of them, so you always know which label does what and who is responsible for it.

Every label type, at a glance

Important

That’s the complete list. If a document or person mentions a label type that isn’t in this table, it doesn’t exist on Fawran — check here first before printing anything unusual.

The FWU unit barcode

The unit barcode format is FWU--<12 digits>-<2-character check>, e.g. FWU-2026-000000000123-C7. It is allocated centrally, never reused, and stays with its physical piece forever — including through customer returns, where the warehouse verifies the returning unit is genuinely the original one. Concepts are covered in Units & Barcodes (FWU).

Who prints what

  • Carton labels — always you. Every box in every FBF shipment must carry one before handover; you attest to it at submit. This never changes with any mode or flag.
  • Unit (FWU) labels — depends on the shipment’s mode. SELLER_PRINTS: you print one unique label per unit. FAWRAN_PRINTS: the warehouse prints and attaches them during receiving; you must not label units yourself. See Unit-Label Modes.
  • Shipment label — you, printed once and attached where it’s visible for the receiving scan.
  • MARKET shipment label — you, once the MARKET barcode panel is activated by the platform (it’s dark today and shows an "enabled soon" notice).

Where you download labels

All labels are generated as PDFs. Three surfaces offer them:

  1. The shipment success screen, right after creating an FBF shipment — shipment label, carton labels, SKU labels.
  2. The shipment detail page — the same downloads plus the unit-labels section when relevant.
  3. The Barcode Center — every shipment’s labels in one place, with allocation, reprints and the print audit log.

Printers and paper

The PDFs are standard documents: they print on a regular A4 office printer (several labels per page — cut and attach) or on a dedicated label printer if you have one. Use paper or stickers that keep the barcode flat, clean and high-contrast; a scratched or curved barcode is the most common cause of failed scans.

💡Tip

Print a test page first and scan it with any phone barcode app. If your phone can read it, the warehouse scanner almost certainly can.
