In the previous example Fawran printed the unit barcodes. This time Ahmad chooses to print them himself (SELLER_PRINTS) for a 20-unit shipment: allocate, download, print, attach, attest, hand over. One warning up front: skipping even one unit label blocks receiving.
Availability note: the “Seller prints” option depends on the unit-barcode service, which may be awaiting platform activation. When it is pending, the wizard locks the mode to “Fawran prints unit labels during receiving” and label endpoints answer feature_disabled (“Unit-barcode printing is pending Admin activation”). Everything below describes the flow when the mode is available for your shipment.
Starting point
State: an FBF shipment created (20 coffee units, 2 cartons) and not yet handed over. Goal: every carton carries its carton label and every unit carries its own unique FWU label — e.g. FWU-2026-000000000123-C7 — before the captain arrives. The unit-label mode can be changed only while the shipment has not been received yet.

The shipment detail page (Shipments›FBF Shipments → open the shipment) — section “Unit-barcode (FWU) responsibility” — and Inventory & Warehouses›Barcode Center for downloads and reprints.
Step by step with Ahmad’s values
- On the shipment detail, in the FWU section, choose Seller prints unit labels (FWU). The mode chip switches to
SELLER_PRINTS. - Click Allocate unit barcodes. The system mints one unique code per unit — “20 barcodes allocated”. (Downloading before this step fails with
no_allocation: “No unit barcodes have been allocated for this shipment yet.”) - Download both PDFs: Download unit labels (20 labels) and the carton labels PDF (2 labels).
- Attach carton labels: one per box, on a flat outer surface — shipment barcode and carton barcode fully visible, never covered by tape, and never swapped between boxes (the label’s box number must match the physical carton).
- Attach unit labels: one FWU label per physical unit, on the product packaging (not on the outer carton), avoiding seams and never covering safety or regulatory text. Each barcode is unique to one unit — never reuse a label or attach the same code twice; if a label tears, reprint the same label from the Barcode Center (reprints require a reason).
- Back in the wizard’s Confirmation step, tick both pledges: the carton attestation and the unit attestation — “I undertake to print and attach all unit labels (FWU) on every unit before handing off the shipment.” Without them, confirmation is blocked.
- Confirm, then Send shipment, and hand the two labelled cartons to the captain.
What you should see
The pre-handoff checklist on the Confirmation step turns fully green: products selected, all quantities distributed, no empty box, delivery method chosen, FWU responsibility set, carton labels printed and attached, unit labels printed and attached. At the warehouse, receiving scans each FWU label — your printing is what makes each unit traceable for its whole life.
A common mistake on this journey
Labelling 19 units and boxing the last one bare. Under SELLER_PRINTS, warehouse receiving blocks on unlabelled units: the unit cannot be scan-verified, receiving pauses for that unit and a receiving case is opened while the rest continue. Recovery: cross-check the printed-label count against the physical count per box before sealing; if the warehouse already flagged it, follow the case in Inventory & Warehouses›Inventory Cases and respond quickly.

- The shipment’s unit-label mode is FAWRAN_PRINTS, not SELLER_PRINTS.
- If you intend to print yourself, switch the mode to Seller prints in the FWU section (possible only before receiving).
- Otherwise do nothing — Fawran prints during receiving; only carton labels are yours.
Include the shipment reference number if the mode cannot be changed before receiving.
When to contact support
Open a ticket (category Shipping & Fulfillment) if allocation repeatedly fails, if the downloaded PDF count does not match your unit count, or if receiving is blocked on a unit you are sure was labelled. Quote the shipment reference and, for single units, the FWU code.
